At Tusculum Dental Care, we pride ourselves on bringing some of the most recent technological advances to our dental practice and using this technology to provide the finest care possible to our patients in Greeneville, Erwin, and Jonesborough. Read on to see how Tusculum Dental Care is using technology to provide oral health care that truly is cutting edge dentistry.
Laser dentistry
According to WebMD, dentists have been using lasers for about a quarter century. Advances in laser technology, combined with other scientific achievements, make modern dental lasers more versatile and convenient than ever. Our dental laser is extremely precise, able to make incisions that are mere nanometers in length that could never be performed by even the most skilled surgeon using a traditional scalpel. Any incision is cauterized immediately, eliminating the need for sutures or stitches while minimizing bleeding, discomfort, and the potential of an infection. We can use our dental laser on a variety of soft-tissue procedures, including treatment of gum disease.
Conebeam
This imaging system goes beyond what both traditional X-ray and digital X-ray systems can do. Conebeam produces three-dimensional images that can be extraordinarily detailed—zooming in on a small area of the mouth or providing a view of the entire skull that is just as comprehensive as those images of precise locations. Your Greeneville dentists at Tusculum Dental Care can use conebeam in a variety of different diagnostic applications, including the diagnosis of impacted teeth, identifying a case of temporomandibular joint disorder, evaluating the alignment of the bite and/or jaws, planning to place dental implants, or identifying the origin of dental pain.
Digital impressions
If you have had a dental restoration, you may remember having a semi-solid paste applied to your mouth to help produce the restoration. Technological advances have allowed the dentists at Tusculum Dental Care to ditch “the goop”! We now use digital imaging systems to provide impressions that are more accurate, without the inconvenience or discomfort of using a mold to take impressions. Digital impressions also may be used as a precursor to treatment for tooth wear, gum problems, or any shifts in the alignment of your teeth.
T-Scan
A diagnostic device that is used in our treatment of TMJ disorder, the T-Scan can take an image of the entire bite at once. Those scans then are used to determine or regain the ideal alignment of the bite and jaw. Finding or restoring this ideal alignment also allows you to identify any pressure points that may be causing issues, or alleviate whatever may be stressing the temporomandibular joint and causing a case of TMJ disorder.
